About
I am a geo-artist.
Design found in nature and geology drive my artistic practice. In my work I combine the beauty of the natural world with the science of geology. I want to draw the viewer in for a second look, lead them to wonder and ask questions. Give them enough detail to contemplate what they are viewing without telling the whole story. Design aspects found natural stone, rocky cliffs, sandy beaches, and lava fields provide my inspiration supported by the structure of geologic reference.
My passion comes from capturing the beauty of nature’s rocky foundations in acrylic paint and natural materials. Every art piece has an element of geology. Calcite crystals create the illusion of fossilized ammonite, bits of backyard charcoal mimic eroded lava, playground sand stands in for Big Island beaches. All natural materials used in my work are legally and ethically sourced.
Look for me in the field with a sketchbook, camera, color guides, and hiking boots in tow.
